I’m multimedia storyteller who focuses on what I know—a little about a lot. I report on the science, nature, food, and art stories that excite me or I feel need telling. I’ve also reported on criminal justice and forgiveness (2019 Quaker Legacy Grant recipient) and told stories in print, radio, magazine, documentary film, and even live (Moth, Long Story Short).

I’m currently an MFA student of Creative Nonfiction Writing at the University of New Hampshire and an alumnus of the Newmark Graduate School of Journalism at CUNY in New York City. I have a bachelor’s degree in Evolutionary Biology from Dartmouth College.

As a reporter, I strive to be non-judgemental, collaborative, and persistent. I’m willing to endure the uncomfortable, tedious, or tiresome tasks that make a story succeed and stand out. From submerging myself in cold water for a shot, to bugging state officials and private interests for information that matters, I’m proactive and persistent. I abide strictly by the Journalistic Laws and Ethics I learned in “J-school.” When due diligence requires a hard line between source and friend, I keep in mind for whom I work: the environment and the people who rely on it. Above all, I strive to be a good neighbor, community member, mentor and friend.

I’m also artist, activist, and student of the world. I’ve starred in a Venezuelan television show, produced a puppet show in Moscow, and done environmental field work in Spain, Mexico, and Louisiana. I fought forest fires in California, worked on fishing boats in Alaska, and was a standup comedian and actor in New York City and around the country. My experimental theater and comedy was featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Der Taggespiegel of Berlin, Times of London, and many other outlets worldwide.

When I’m not making back gas money reporting, writing, and producing, I’m a fine bartender, cook, and carpenter. For updates and new releases, please follow me on one of the channels below. And if you’ve got anything to tell me, good or bad—hit me up! I’d love to hear from you.
